Helen L. Harst (nee Workman), age 78, of Lorain, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born August 5, 1942 in Kitchen, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Sylva and Addie (nee Wallen) Workman. Helen graduated from Chapmanville High School in 1960 and moved to Cleveland in 1962. She then lived in Oberlin before moving to Lorain in 1984.
Helen worked at Ford Motor Company, Avon Lake assembly plant for over 20 years, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 2000 and enjoyed shopping, the outdoors, spending time with her family and she especially loved her dogs.
Surviving are her sons, James G. “Jim” (Opel) Adkins and Anthony “Tony” Adkins both of Lorain; grandchildren, Angela Morris and James Adkins; great grandchildren, Michael, Hailey and Alana; sisters, Joyce Jackson of Chapmanville, West Virginia and Judy Killik of Hobe Sound, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, John R. Adkins in 2002; brothers, Arthur Ray Workman, Gene Workman, Sylva Workman Jr. and Everette Workman; and sisters, Carrie Brewster and Mona Lois Adkins.
Visitation will be held on February 4 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Freeman Funeral Home, 220 Main Avenue, Chapmanville, WV. Rick Adkins will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lilly-Adkins Cemetery, Saw Mill Road, Chapmanville, WV.
