William Kenneth Huffman

William Kenneth Huffman, 93, of Lorain, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community, having had congestive heart failure.
Born December 14, 1922, in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, William was called Kenny by his family and friends. Kenny graduated from Bentleyville High School in 1940 and worked his family's dairy farm before being drafted into the US Army in 1946.
After his service in the Army, he continued to farm until moving to Lorain, Ohio in 1951. Kenny then worked for Lorain Works US Steel as an inspector for over 31 years, retiring in 1983.
William; Kenny, was a faithful member of the New Apostolic Church, Lorain, since 1958, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He also served as a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years, youth leader, and also sang and directed the church choir. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and also watching the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Indians.
Surviving are his daughters, Bonnie Hamza of Tucson, AZ, Billie Lee White of Washington, PA, Kenda Kollar of The Villages, FL and Laura Di Goetz of Virginia; step children, John Harper, of New York, Grace I. Sturgell of Lorain, and Carroll Uehlein of Amherst; 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary Jane (nee Callary) Huffman in 2007; his parents, Bernard and Lula (nee Sampson) Huffman; a stepdaughter, Judith Novak; stepson, Robert Harper; sisters, Lois Lindley, Dorothy Berry and Inez Huffman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at New Apostolic Church, 3929 Leavitt Road, Lorain. Evangelist Adam Welch and Rev. Barry Barnes will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the New Apostolic Church Youth Fund, 3929 Leavitt Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
