Richard J. Vrabel

Richard J. Vrabel “Rick” “Big Rick,” age 76, of Sheffield Lake, died Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at his residence while under the care of hospice following a short illness.

Born August 21, 1947, in Lorain, Rick was a long-time resident of Sheffield Lake.

After graduating in 1965 from Admiral King High School, he served three years in the US Navy.

Rick worked in the Lorain Works US Steel machine shop for 42 years, retiring in 2012.

He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union 1104, cherished spending time with his grandchildren, and loved his dog, Sophie.

Surviving is his companion of 20 years, Teresa Brown; his sons, Rick (Leslie Martinez) Vrabel and Zach Vrabel; his daughters, Katie Vrabel and Holly Vrabel; 10 grandchildren; and his brother, Robert Vrabel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (nee Pogrozelski) Vrabel, his sister, Barb Kramer, and his twin sister, Carol Vrabel.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, at Sugar Ridge Baptist Church, 36600 Sugar Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. A reception will follow the service.
