Sulma Iris Santiago

Sulma Iris Santiago, age 63, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain.

Born October 23, 1958 to Carmelo and Candida Santiago in Lorain, Sulma spent her entire life in the Lorain area.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain where she was devoted to music ministry and the charismatic movement.  Sulma was very involved with Murray Ridge Center, volunteering in many activities and organizations, including local hospitals.

She loved all types of music and was gifted with her ability to play the tambourine.  Small but mighty was the best way to describe Sulma and she lived life “her way” and gave no excuses for it.

Surviving is her mother, Candida Santiago; siblings, Reynaldo (Sonia) Santiago, Carmelo (Amanda) Santiago Jr., Nanci (Don) Santiago-Meyers and Amy (Efrain) Torres as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carmelo Santiago; siblings, Antonio Santiago and Marie Clemons.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.  Visitation will also be held on Monday, September 26 at 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain.  Rev. William Thaden will officiate.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
