Stephen J. "Pesta" Swetz, 78, of Amherst, formerly of Lorain, died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland, after a brief illness.
He was born on August 1, 1927 in Lorain where he resided with his late beloved Betty until her death in February 2004.
He was employed by Fruehauf Trailer Corp. until their move from Avon. He then worked for Baker Casket Company and retired from Tube Craft Company, Cleveland.
He enjoyed motorcycling across the country before his marriage in 1948. He then enjoyed travel and camping with his family. He was a member of Black River Trail Blazers Camping Club of which he designed their logo. He was an accomplished carpenter and mechanic. He enjoyed golf, helping others and sharing accounts of his many adventures.
Survivors include his son: Steven M. "Rusty" Swetz of Amherst, daughters: Mary M. "Butchie" Boros of Amherst and Loraine J. "Cookie" Zvosechz of Amherst where he has resided since his wife's death and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Martha (nee Podolak) Swetz, his wife Betty J. Swetz of 55 years and an infant granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
