Stanley J. Stransky

Stanley J. Stransky, 79, of Lorain, died suddenly on Tuesday, Sept 28, 2004 while attending a World War II 7th Field Depot Marine Reunion in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was born on June 16, 1925 in Lorain, where he was a lifetime resident.
He attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School, Lorain and Lorain public schools. He received a certificate as Instructor of Journeymen and Apprentices through the Perdue University in 1973.
Stanley served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific area. He participated in action against the enemy on Saipan and Tinian in the Marianas Islands Group, and Okinawa, Ryukyu Island Archipelago. After World War II ended he served duty in occupied China.
Following the service he worked various labor union construction jobs and then for Lorain National Tube. In 1950, he worked at the Cadillac Tank Plant-Division of General Motors as a welding instructor for 2 years. In 1960, he established Stranskys Welding and Fabricating Shop on Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, and was the owner and operator for 14 years. During this time, he supervised at the Ohio Chartered Welding Bureau for Lorain County Piping Industry, and was the welding instructor at the Plumbing and Steamfitters Union Local 830 of Lorain. He retired in 1988 from Lucas Plumbing, Lorain, where he worked for 12 years. He was known in the community as one of the best welders in the area.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain, a life member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 1079 of Elyria, a life member of the Amvets post 47 of Lorain, a social member of the Italian American Veterans Post 1 of Lorain, and a social member of the Lorain Columbian Club. He was a lifetime charter member of the National World War II Memorial, a 50 year member of the Plumbing and Steamfitters Union Local 830 of Lorain and Local 42 of Norwalk, member of the World War II US Marine Corp. 7th Service Regiment Reunion Association and a member of the Cosmopolitan Dance Club where he had served on the board.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, skiing, helping friends and family, and especially dancing.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Emma (nee Tocchi), sons; Robert of Highlands, Virginia, and Dale of Carson City, Nevada, a daughter; Renee Reasoner of Grafton, six grandchildren, a sister Helen Bobrowski of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Della (nee Tracewicz) Stransky, brothers; Adam, Edward, John, Phillip, Adolph, and Joseph, sisters; Frances Fritz, and Josephine Crisamore.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7  9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Honor Guard of VFW Post #1079, Elyria, Ohio will conduct full military honors.
