Simplicio Sanchez

Simplicio Sanchez, 93, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at his residence while under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice following a brief illness.
He was born March 8, 1919 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, living in Lorain most of his life. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Simplicio retired from Fruehauf Trailer Company, where he worked as a laborer for 28 years.
His love and passion was gardening. Simplicio was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Surviving is his daughter, Frances (Hector) Velez of Lorain; sons, Arvin Sanchez of Houston, TX, Reinaldo Sanchez of Lorain, and Joel (Daisy Martinez) Sanchez of Lorain; 6 grandchildren, Hector Lee Velez, Louisa Velez, Jason Velez, Louise Martinez Gluzman, Joey Martinez, and Juan Martinez; 3 step grandchildren, Jose Martinez, Marisol Martinez, and Noel Martinez; 3 great grandchildren, Julian and Mylee Velez, and Elijah Herda; and a brother, Basilo Sanchez of Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Maria Luisa (nee Roman) Sanchez in 2011; his parents, Ramon and Francisca (nee Reyes) Sanchez; brothers, Besnabel, Perfecto, Victor and Epifano; and a sister Cecilia.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 8:45 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
