Scott A. Thorp

Scott A. Thorp, age 67 of Lagrange, Ohio, passed away on July 2, 2025. He is survived by his sister, Lynn (Joseph) Cheslock, and his sister-in-law, Jean, and was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford.

Scott grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio and attended Cleveland State University, where he earned a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked almost 40 years at NASA, where he received awards for his work on jet propulsion engines, and was recognized for his contributions to the space shuttle program.

After retiring, he pursued his interest in racing and taking his custom-built race cars to compete against fellow auto enthusiasts at the racetrack.

Scott enjoyed his dog, Oscar, whom he dearly loved, and lost, several years ago. He liked to golf, and research his genealogy, tracing his roots back as far as the 1100’s in England. He also appreciated the times he was able to spend with his family at holiday gatherings and summer themed picnics.
