Salvatora Marie "Sally" Degan

Salvatora Marie "Sally" Degan (nee Piazza) age 85, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Weslyan Village, Elyria, following a lengthy illness.
Born October 1, 1931 in Lakewood, she lived in the Lorain and Elyria her entire life. She was in the first class to graduate from Elyria Catholic in 1950.
Sally worked as a seamstress and enjoyed sewing. Over many years, she had sewn countless hats that she donated to cancer patients. She also loved to cook and visit flea markets.
Surviving are her children, Maxine (Ladd) Ptak of Warren, IN, Mary Sue Carpenter of Elyria, Donna (Jim) Brady of Wichita KS, Ann (Ron) Green of Elyria, Dominic John (Bonnie) Penson of Elyria, Delores (Dennis) Telzerow of Wellington, Michael Penson of Lorain and Theresa (Marvin) White of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Krist, Trent, Angie, Jamie, April, Lenny, Victoria, Harry, Jonathan, Marie, Tory, Kellie, Scott, Jeremiah, Becky, Brian, Grant, Tyler and Kaylee; 25 great grandchildren; nieces, Mary Jo Kerchmar and Amy Ballway; nephews, David and Dominic Bockmore and Ed, Dominic, Jim and Tony Piazza and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Ron Degan in 2007; parents, Dominic and Mary (Campagna) Piazza; a brother, Charles D. Piazza; a sister, Antoinette Bockmore; grandchildren, Dominic J. Penson Jr. and Marcus A. White; and a great grandson, Shane Brown.
A celebration of Sally's life will be held on Sunday, May 7th from 3-6 pm, at Blue Sky Restaurant, 802 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Ohio. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements. To send online condolences go to www.dovinfcs.com.

I will always remember our precious memories we had together for there are far too many good ones to choose just one. Not only are you my grandmother but my best friend and you will forever be in my heart and with me always until we meet again. Your granddaughter Tory.
