Rose was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on August 22, 1935.  In 1947, at the age of 12, Rose, her sister and her mother moved to Lorain, Ohio and lived there 74 years until her passing.  During her many years in Lorain, she attended school, got married, became a mother, worked at the May Company in the cosmetics department and was owner of Carrero’s Market in Lorain.

She was a loving and compassionate woman who served as a Good Samaritan in her community to provide for the needy and disadvantaged, until her passing.  She was a devout woman of immense faith and serving the Sacred Heart Chapel became a central part of her life.  Rose served as an Elder at her church, Sacred Heart Chapel, where for many years she sang in the choir, was a Prison Ministry volunteer, catechism teacher, Pastoral Council member and Small Church Community member.  She received her final blessing by Father Bill Thaden who considered Rose not only a devoted servant of the Church, but also a friend.

Rose was preceded in death by her mother, Justina Rodriguez; her sister, Ramonita; brothers, Teofilo, Jesus and Jose Antonio; and her husband, Eduardo Carrero.

She is survived by her six children, Doris (Mike) Rosario Martinez, Julie Contreras, Alicia (Nelson) Bregon, Elizabeth Carrero, David (Angie) Carrero and Yvette (Tod) Davis.  She is also survived by her sister, Anna Laureano, whom she loved with all her heart, as well as Anna’s three daughters who she considered as her own.  She and Anna shared an inseparable bond.
