Roger L. May, age 82, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 following a lengthy illness.
Born January 11, 1940 in Lorain, he graduated from Lorain High School in 1958. After high school he served in the US Marine Corp. In 2002, he moved to South Carolina.
He retired from Lorain Works US Steel after 35 years and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union 1104.
In the late 1970’s, Roger played football for Rosie’s Pizza, becoming city champs in 1979.
He was an avid sports fan and loved rooting for his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Jennifer May; sons, Roger A. (Bobbi) May and Michael May (Lori); daughter, Sue (John Widman) Dawson; step-daughter, Jennifer May; grandchildren, Katherine May, Frederick May, Nikki Peyton May, Donnie Lee Dawson, Robbie Dawson, Judith May, Neveah Dawson and Sarah Porter; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Marsha Malloy-May; and a brother, Bud May; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Steven L. May; brother, Larry “Bill” May; and great granddaughter, Kylie Dawson.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 29th in Lorain. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists of Lorain are assisting the family.
