Robert Victor Matchette

Robert "Bob" Victor Matchette, age 44, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at South Point Hospital, Warrensville Heights, after a lengthy illness. For 15 years, he lead a courageous battle with myotonic dystrophy.
He was born on June 22, 1968 in Heidelburg, Germany, living in Lorain for most of his life. He was a 1986 graduate of Lorain Catholic High School. After high school, he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Bob worked at May Credit Service Center, where he earned various awards for his outstanding service. He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter and during grade school, he was an altar boy at St. Mary's.
Bob's passion was art, but he also enjoyed reading about Egypt and anything to do with Egypt. He enjoyed the city of Pittsburgh and loved being around children, and listening to the singer, Madonna. He found happiness in planning his mother's 50th birthday surprise party and also planning his parents silver wedding anniversary party.
He is survived by his loving mother, Sharon (nee Krucinski), of Lorain, uncles; Terrence Krucinski and Thomas Lustek, an aunt, Catherine Forman, and cousins. He is also survived by close and dear family friends; Fr. Craig Hovanec, Steve and Janet Bodi and family, Jerry and Rosemary Bullen, and Jim and Kathy Bucci.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert T. Matchette, in 2006, and his grandparents; Robert and Mary Virginia Matchette and Thomas and Rosemary Lustek.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 9, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where prayers will be held on Monday, at 10:30 am. His funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am, at the Catholic Church of St. Peter 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate.
