I miss my dad so much. Every day of my life is filled with memories of him and I. From as early as I can remember I was sitting beside him in his workshop, sweeping his sawdust, planting in his garden, going fishing, and tagging along every Saturday while he went to his card games. He read my bedtime stories and always made sure to sit on the edge of my bed during thunderstorms until I fell asleep. He did his best to tie my hair into pigtails before school. He taught me to cook and made everything homemade from his famous fresh-caught catfish to his chicken and dumplings. He spent all winter canning his peppers and tomatoes for the year ahead. He handmade all of my toys from my blocks to my teeter-totter and even the desk I used to do my homework every night. He taught me to catch fireflies. We'd go on treasure hunts with his metal detector. He loved animals and always had a dog for a companion as well as lots of kittens and rabbits over the years. One of his favorite treats was a filet-o-fish and a butterscotch-dipped cone with a root beer. He loved sitting on the front porch, socializing with his friends and neighbors. Every great memory I have is with him and I'm eternally grateful for the life he shared with me. Misty.
