Rita Rose Antoinette Uszak, 75, of Lorain passed away Saturday December 10th, 2022 suddenly and unexpectedly.
She was born in Lorain, Ohio on August 18th, 1947 and graduated from Clearview High School and Kent State University with a Bachelor’s in Journalism.
Rita worked as a journalist. Her writings can be found at the under the name Toni Uszak. She also taught at Garfield Elementary School in the past. She loved gardening at her previous home and would walk around her back yard garden which was full of vegetables and bordered by flowers. She especially loved her rose bushes. She enjoyed shopping and she also enjoyed giving to her loved ones.
Rita was an amazing and supportive mother to her only son Nicolas E. Uszak, who would have failed many times without her love and guidance. Also surviving are her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Estelle (nee Zelinski) Uszak; brothers, James Uszak, Robert Uszak, and Gerald Uszak; aunts, Bernice Zelinski and Sophia Czech; and uncles, Phil Zelinski, Joseph Zelinski and Walter Green.
Rita was funny, smart, and a good friend to many. She cared about her family. She was a citizen of Lorain and lived here most of her life. She loved to chat, and joke, and make silly faces. The world is less without her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20 from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Craig Hovanec will officiate. Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists is handling the arrangements.
