Rev. Luis I. Cintron, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2026, at Huntington Woods Care and Rehabilitation Center in Westlake.
Born November 25, 1942, in Rio Piedra, Puerto Rico, he moved to Boston before settling in Lorain in 1974.
Luis received his ordination as a minister in 1985 and dedicated his life to serving others through his ministry at Templo Emmanuel Assembly of God on E.33rd Street in Lorain. His leadership extended to Noah’s Ark Church in Cleveland and later at The Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal Asamblea de Dios in Lorain, where he served until his retirement in 2017. His community work and spiritual guidance left a lasting legacy that many will remember and honor.
Luis enjoyed reading, traveling, listening to music, visiting with people, and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Marjorie (née Mercado) Cintron; sons, Rev. Israel (Arlene) Cintron and Miguel (Madelina) Cintron both of Lorain, Luis Cintron of Kansas City, and Daniel (Annalyn) Cintron of Groveland, Florida; grandchildren, Thalia (Ricardo) Marrero, Eleana (Andrew) Warkentien, Arianna Cintron, Amylia Cintron, and Andres Cintron; brothers, Julio Rivera and Antonio Rivera; and sisters, Gloria Rivera-Rodriguez, Blanca Zorilla, Lydia Rivera, Milagros Rivera, Poro Cintron, and Clara Cintron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Obdulio and Laura (née Rivera) Cintron, and several brothers and sisters.
During this difficult time, family and friends are invited to come together in prayer and remembrance to celebrate his life and the positive influence he had on all. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. and conclude with predicación at 7:00 p.m. at Templo Emmanuel Assembly of God, 4230 Clinton Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
