Philip M. "Red" Mercurio, age 76, of Lorain, died on Monday, January 17, 2005 at Community Health Partners - Hospital and Surgical Center, West, Lorain, following a brief illness.
He was born on January 31, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio. He moved to Lorain as a child and has resided here since.
He attended Lorain High School. During WWII he served in the United States Army in Japan. He earned the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan.
Philip was employed at the former Lee Furniture, Lorain for 41 years, retiring in 1993 after 41 years of service.
He was a former member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Lorain.
He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, poker and old movies on t.v.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Judy (nee Adler), son: Kevin Mercurio, of Arizona and daughters: Susan West, of Arizona, Samantha McComas and Melinda McComas, both of Lorain and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father: Philip Mercurio, mother: Frances (nee Razzano) Mercurio Wagner in 1982 and brothers: Robert Re and Michael Mercurio.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 20, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
