Olena "Helen" Hryszczenko, (nee Dacio), 83, of Lorain, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006 at Kingston of Vermilion following a sudden illness.
She was born on September 3, 1922 in the Ukraine. She came to Lorain in 1951, and has lived here since.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed her grandchildren, cooking, gardening and baking. In the 1970's, she worked at Hoog"s Greenhouse, Elyria.
She is a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Lorain.
Surviving are her sons, Nick of Lorain, and Robert of Vermilion; a daughter, Anna Baxter of Vermilion; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Iwan, in 2002; and her parents, Mykola Dacio and Ewdokia (nee Tuzylak) Dacio.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be a Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr. in Lorain. Rev. Fr. Thomas Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
