Myrna Torres

May 28, 1957 — Aug 1, 2026

Myrna Torres was born on May 28, 1957, in Lorain, with cerebral palsy, which slowly weakened her throughout her life. She passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.

Doctors did not have much hope for a long-term life, but despite her difficulties, Myrna's resilience and kindness impacted many lives. She inspired others through her volunteer work and her example of a life well-lived. She graduated from Admiral King High School and went on to attain her associate's degree at Lorain County Community College.

For over 40 years, she attended Leavitt Road Gospel Hall, formerly known as Grace Gospel Hall, demonstrating her strong faith and commitment to her community. The family appreciates the love and support Myrna received from the church members, which underscores her meaningful involvement and the bonds she cherished.

She will be dearly missed by her four brothers, William, Dennis and Hiram of Lorain and Edgar of Morenci, Michigan, as well as her sisters, Carmen Aviles and Ivette Aviles of Aguada, Puerto Rico. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Myrna was preceded in death first by her mother, Digna (nee Aviles), and then by her stepmother, Raquel (nee Lugo). She was later preceded in death by her father, Primitivo Torres, who saw that she was taken care of all his life, as well as her brother, Naaman "Edwin", and her uncles, Santiago, Juan, and Ramon, and her aunt, Ana Chaparro. Also proceeding her in death are her grandfather, Nicolas Torres who died in 1942, long before her birth, her revered grandmother, Maria Cardona in 1977, and her maternal grandparents, Margaro Aviles and Dominga Rivera, who she got to know and love from her many trips to Puerto Rico.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.
