Mirta Aguirre

Mirta Aguirre passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 6, 2026, in Westlake, Ohio. She was born on September 1, 1929, in Banes, Cuba, and lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, steady work, and a love of travel.

In 1955, Mirta moved from Cuba to Detroit, Michigan, beginning a new chapter in her life in the United States. In 1960, she made her home in Lorain, where she continued to build her life and community. She worked as a seamstress for Joseph and Feiss for 12 years, a role that reflected her dedication and strong work ethic.

Mirta loved to travel and found great joy in being with those she loved most. Her family was at the center of her life, and she especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those moments together were among her greatest treasures and will remain lasting memories for all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris (James) Leone and Nancy Weigman. She also leaves behind the love and memory she shared with her 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who meant the world to her.

Mirta was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Manuel Aguirre; her mother, Amparo Perez; her father, Cajetano Felipe; her brothers, Cajetano, Francisco, Antonio, Vicente, and Jose; and her sisters, Josefa, Victoria, Nery, Leonor, Maria and Amparo.

Visitation will be held on September 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Ave, Lorain, OH 44055. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
