Michael Smith

Michael Smith, age 52 of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at his residence.

Born January 30, 1972, in Amherst, Ohio to Densel Smith and Songa (nee Loyd) Zakowski, Michael lived in the Lorain area his entire life. 

 He enjoyed playing darts, going to the racetrack and working on race cars. He especially enjoyed hanging out with family and friends as well as going on family trips.

Surviving is his wife of 28 years, Barbara “Barbie” Smith; children, Michael “Elsmitty” Smith, Brandon Smith, Zachary Smith and Zoey Smith; his nephew and “son,” Jordan Zakowski; grandchildren, Sophia, Lyla, Iris, Izarella, Cam and a future baby boy Smith; both of his parents; his sisters, Tammy, Val and Rebecca; brothers, Brian, Cody, Anthony and Tony; as well as many nieces and nephews, including, Tasha and Erick; parents-in-law, Kevin and Cynthia Meidam; sister-in-law, Amanda Sova as well as his close friends, Rodger, Roy, Chewy, Joey, L. J., Larry and Randy.

 He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hope Starr Smith; stepmother, Irene Smith; sister, Melissa Jones as well his grandparents, A.D. and Metta Loyd.

 A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 7 from 2 - 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 30, 1112 West Erie Avenue, Lorain.
