Michael Fox, a devoted family man and respected National Airspace Operations Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration, passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 61, in Oberlin, Ohio. Born on July 23, 1964, in Cleveland, Ohio, he made significant contributions to air safety and navigation throughout his esteemed career.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1983 until 1988 as a data link technician, a commitment that instilled in him a sense of duty and leadership that would carry through to his professional life. His expertise and dedication led him to a successful career at the Federal Aviation Administration, where he was pivotal in managing national airspace operations.
Beyond his professional achievements, Michael held a deep passion for his hobbies, particularly fishing and tinkering, which brought him joy and relaxation. He was known for his gentle spirit and his generosity in sharing his time and knowledge with others.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Zimmerman-Fox, his children Dakota (Kate) Fox and Larry (Tabitha Mathews) Nail, and his cherished grandson, Larry Nail Jr. He is also remembered fondly by his brother, Steve Fox; sister, Ginny (Damon) Lewis; nieces, Dana, Nikki and Autumn and a nephew, Branden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and La Verne Fox; and a brother, Daniel Fox. Michael's legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him.
Visitation and memorial services will be held on September 6, 2025, at Dovin Funeral And Cremation Specialists in Lorain, Ohio. The visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
