Michael Chalus

September 14, 1908 — March 7, 2005

Michael Chalus, age 96, of West Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Lorain, died on Monday, March 07, 2005 at Allterra Sterling House, West Melbourne, Florida, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 14, 1908 in Pennsylvania and moved to the Ukraine with his family at the age of 6 months. He came back to the United States at the age of 18, settling in Lorain.
He and his wife moved to St. Louis in 1950 where they owned and operated their own restaurant. Upon returning to Lorain in 1965 they owned and operated the Cliff House Tavern in Sheffield Village until 1976. In 1979 Mr. Chalus and his wife moved to Florida. He was a member of St. Simeon Orthodox Church in Titusville, Florida and while living in Lorain was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church. He was also a mason.
He is survived by a sister: Victoria in the Ukraine and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years: Mary (nee Fetchak) in 1997 and a daughter: Victoria in 1944.
Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain with Archpriest Basil Stoyka, pastor of Ss Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, officiating. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is in charge of arrangements.
