Margaret "Margie" Wiemels

Margaret Evelyn Wiemels, age 62, of Avon Lake, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025, after winning her battle with cancer.

Loving mother of Shannon Smith (Jesse). She is survived by her mother, Kathleen (nee Rooney); sisters, Katherine Hildebrand (Dale), Mary Elizabeth, and Debra Hicks; and brother, John (Stacey). She was a devoted and joyful grandmother to Aubrey Smith. Loving Aunt and Great Aunt.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Wiemels, Sr., in 2023, and her brother, Gerald Wiemels, Jr., in 2015.

Margie's greatest joy in life was her granddaughter, with whom she was absolutely smitten. She showered her with love and countless butterfly kisses - treasuring every moment they shared.

A gifted writer of poetry, Margie had a creative soul and a deep appreciation for capturing beauty through photography. She was a woman of faith, known for her generous heart, compassion for others, and her ability to make those around her feel cared for and understood.

Margie’s family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10:00 am until the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Obed Melendez, Certified Life Celebrant, will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, Ohio.
