Margaret Thomas (nee Oleair), 91 of Lorain, passed away comfortably on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at her residence with her children present and with the care of VITAS Hospice.
Born August 31, 1922 in Lorain, she was a life long resident of the city. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1940 and was a graduate of the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Margaret worked as a registered nurse at the former St. Joseph Hospital, Amherst Hospital, and various local physicians' offices, retiring from Dr. JB Patterson's office.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain. She enjoyed computer puzzles, reading, watching mass on television and spending time with her family.
Surviving is her son, John G. (Christine) of Avon; a daughter, Mary Jo Thomas of Lorain; and granddaughters, Alysse and Samantha.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Charles in 1984; parents, John Oleair Sr. in 1973 and Mary (nee Simko) Oleair in 1974; brothers, John in 1986, Army Captain Joseph in 1943, Alex in 1984 and George in 2000; and sisters, Ann Wilkins in 1986 and Mary Stark in 1998.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of panachida at 10:30 am in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Liturgy will follow at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th Street, Lorain. Very Reverend Nicholas R.A. Rachford, J.C.L. pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
