Louis Nunez

Louis Nunez, age 86, of Vermilion, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home while under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice.

Born on March 26, 1939, in Lorain to the late Florencio and Elena (née Razo) Nunez, he resided in Lorain until relocating to Vermilion in 1976.

He was a graduate of Lorain High School and worked as a millwright at Lorain Works US Steel for 32 years, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. Louis was very close to his family and had tremendous love for them, always looking forward to spending time with his children, grandchildren, and siblings. He found joy in tinkering around the house and watching nature.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Theresa (nee Schwarz); children, Michael Nunez, Nita Nunez, Linda (Scott) Johnson, and Anne (Darren) Yakunovich; grandchildren, Alexis, Elizabeth, Ashley, and Brooke; and a sister, Becky (Jim) Wilson.

Besides his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his sister, Elena Rehman; and brothers, Gustalo “Gus” Nunez, Rodolfo “Rudy” Nunez, Mike Nunez, Daniel Nunez, Manual Martinez, Roy Flores, and Charles Flores.

Attended by the family, private burial took place at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The family will hold a Celebration of Louis’s life at a later date. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists in Lorain handled the arrangements.
