Lisa Sigler

December 20, 1967 — December 18, 2020

Lisa A. Sigler (nee Shepard) age 52 of Lorain, went to her heavenly home on December 18, 2020 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain.

Born in Lorain, Ohio December 20, 1967 to Richard and Pat Shepard, Lisa spent many years in the Lorain area.  She studied at MTSU then received her Bachelor degree from the University of Kentucky. She enjoyed teaching young children and working with animals.

Known as “Minnie Mouse” by her family and friends, she had a huge collection of Minnie Mouse stuffed animals and blankets that provided her comfort.  She enjoyed her collection of classic movies while at the nursing home, including: Doris Day, Shirley Temple and Andy Griffith; her favorite was “The Gun in Betty Lou’s Handbag” and “Borrowed Hearts.”

She was a beautiful and sweet person with a heart of gold who loved everyone and always saw the good in people. A devout Christian, she enjoyed studying the bible and attending church. She also enjoyed family vacations to many places and enjoyed horseback riding, snorkeling, teaching pre-school children. Lisa loved her trip to Hawaii where she and her husband rode a motorcycle to the top of a volcano as well as the summers she spent in Hong Kong and Paris, France with her parents. Lisa also enjoyed reading, aerobics (her favorite instructor was Denise Austin) and nature walks to Mill Hollow with her husband Troy and her dogs.  She was an animal lover who had many pets over the years including her cat Lucy that she adored.  Lisa also volunteered at the Animal Protective League where she assisted with the cat room.

Surviving is her husband of over 19 years, Troy A. Sigler; parents, Richard and Pat Shepard; brother, Dr. Christian M. Shepard; niece Kristin Prather and her great niece Alyssa. Also surviving are in-laws; Dr. John Serafini and Elizabeth and nephew David Sigler as well as her dog Duchess.

A special thank you to the nursing staff at Anchor Lodge Retirement Community for their excellent care of Lisa during the last few years of her life.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic a balloon release memorial service will be held in the spring. Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists handled the arrangements.
