Lewis Brown

Now you listen to me, I’ll only say this once. We are not sick men.

This is a quote from Fist of Fury. For those that knew Louis Brown, it was his motto. It’s a humbling thing, to write the obituary of a man who gained immortality in the hearts and minds of any who were blessed enough to have known him. Some people in our lives truly seem to be invincible, Lou was more than that. He was legendary. All things eventually end, but his memory never will.

Louis Brown was brought home to the lord on Sep. 7th, 2026 in Elyria, Ohio. It’s apparent that Chuck Norris decided to head there before Lou to train with Bruce Lee for the inevitable Kung Foo match when he got there. If you knew Louis, you’d be nervous for Chuck. 

Louis was preceded in death by his father Ronald Brown, and brother Jerrell Hamby as well as his grandmother, Geraldine "Grandma" Jenkins.

He is survived by his mother, Ruby Scoble, Sister Karry Hamby; his uncle, Bill Jenkins; along with nephews and nieces, Jerrell, Amanda, Sean, Elexis, Gina, Samantha and Hunter Hamby and many neighborhood family.

Louis grew up in Troy, New York where he amassed family and friends that would last forever. He played Varsity High School football for the Flying Horses and was known for his humor, compassion and honor. He gained the nickname “Down Town Louis Brown” and could always be found with Rodney Wiltshire, or Nick Martone and inherited family. He loved sports, movies, music, and martial arts. He was a level 3 black belt in Shaolin White Dragon Kung Fu, as well as 2nd degree black belt in Aikido. His greatest practice in life was the love he showed to the world, he was truly a man amongst men; and as long as we live we will honor and cherish his legacy. Also, pray for Chuck, he’s gonna need it when Lou gets there.

A memorial service will be held September 16 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Bethel Chapel, 4065 Broadway, Lorain.  Burial will be held September 16 at 12:00 p.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.  Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists handled the arrangements.
