Leonard Catanese Sr, 89, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2023, at his home.
He was born on October 7, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Frank Catanese and Leonarda Catanese (nee Montante). He attended St. Timothy Catholic School in Cleveland. Leonard worked his career as a printer in the Cleveland area at American Steel & Wire, Metro Press and eventually retiring from Lorain Printing in 1998. He also was a statistician for the Cleveland Browns from 1962 until 2003. Leonard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Leonard was an avid bowler and looked forward to playing bingo at the Eagles Club each week. He also enjoyed watching the Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes football. Len was a kind person, who always had a smile and lots of life stories to share for everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Catanese; his son, Leonard Catanese Jr. (Eileen), step-son Tim Streeter (Jamie); his grandchildren, Leonard Catanese III (Melissa), Marie Root (Dan), Francesco Catanese, Ethan and Kelsey Streeter; his sister Mary Gaukin (of Florida); his great grandchildren, Bryce, Hayley, Rylan, Mallory, Camden, Callie and many nephews and nieces that were all very important in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Leonarda; first wife Marie Snyder Catanese and daughter Deborah Catanese; brothers, Frank Jr., Michael, Armando, and Dominick; step-son James Streeter Jr.
A funeral service will be held on a date to be determined in the near future at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brookpark Rd, Cleveland, OH 44142 following the Christmas and New Year holidays. Family members and friends will be notified when the date and time is finalized.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Leonard Catanese Sr.
