Kenneth R. Milas, age 84, a Vermilion for the past 47 years, died Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born May 18, 1939, in Lorain, he graduated from Lorain High School, class of 1959A. Ken served in the US Army in the early 1960’s. He’s been a Vermilion resident for the past 47 years.
Ken retired in 2006 as a tow motor operator from Nordson Corporation after 40 years there.
He was a member of Amvets Post 22 and enjoyed working on antique cars and serving as the family handyman.
A classic car and train enthusiast, Ken was a Car Coddles Club and Overland Jeepster Club member and volunteered many hours with Trolleyville USA, Lorain and West Virginia Railway, and Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
Surviving is his loving wife of 59 years, Joan (nee Draginich); sons, Cevin Milas (Lisa Lawlis) of South Amherst and Craig (Liz) Milas of North Royalton; daughters, Christine (Christopher) Farkas of Piqua, OH and Charlene (Peter) Camp of Plantation, FL; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Jeanie) Milas of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret (nee Salada) Milas; and a brother, Raymond Milas.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where the Amvets Post 32 will conduct military honors at 7:30 p.m.
