Juanita Garcia

Juanita Garcia, 88, of Lorain went to be with The Lord January 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Juanita was born April 10, 1925 in Humacao, Puerto Rico and made Lorain, Ohio her home in 1952. Having a very strong work ethic, she joined the work force as soon as she could. She worked in Bay Village cleaning houses. She also worked as a seamstress for Joseph & Feiss and spent some time working at the local laundromat. She also did volunteer work for the Lorain Correctional Facility.
Juanita was about family. Whenever she was around, the family enjoyed jubilant unity and harmony. She cared for and loved all her family and friends; it was truly an enjoyment for her to spend time cooking for them. She would go out of her way to bring happiness to any one of the family. In her earlier years she loved herself a good game of Dominoes and Gin Rummy with her friends.
She attended Iglesia Manantial de Agua Viva in Lorain, where she was an active member and graced everyone with the most beautiful poetry. She was able to write lovely rhyming prose, often on the spot - to the amazement of many. She had a canny ability to write about whatever special occasion was happening, and the result was beautiful poetry that was as a special song to all who heard her.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Lillian Matos, Frank (Nellie) Garcia, both of Lorain, Israel "Baby" Garcia of Tampa, Florida, and her Granddaughter Lorraine Garcia of Lorain, who she raised as her own daughter. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren who will miss her profoundly.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Francisco, sons Benjamin, Bievenido, Rev. Freddie Garcia Sr., great-grandson Josiah Orona, grandson Robin Garcia and daughter Jenny Rivera.
Her family will receive friends Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, at Iglesia Manantial, 3501 Broadway, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Friday, at 10:00 am. Rev Daniel Reyes, Pastor of New Jerusalem Church, Cleveland, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Cemetery, Lorain.
