Juanita Diaz Rivera, age 92, of Lorain, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
Born on May 9, 1923 in Junco, Puerto Rico, she came to Lorain in 1951.
Juanita was a member of Iglesia Pentecostal Cristo Misionera, Lorain, and loved cooking and sewing. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are her sons, Antonio (Mary Ann) Diaz of Parma and Raphael (Myra) Diaz of Lorain; a daughter, Julia (Richard) Barry of Lorain; also mother of Antonio Diaz II and Rachelle Diaz; 11 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and a great great-grandson; sisters, Anita Hernandez Cruz and Ramona Hernandez Cruz both of Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, German Diaz Rivera in 1996; a daughter, Juanita Diaz in 1952; and parents, Felmil Cruz and Juana Hernandez.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:30 am at Iglesia Pentecostal Cristo Misionera, 1930 Broadway, Lorain. Rev. Ruben Rodriguez, pastor will officiate.
