Lorain

Juana Navarro, a cherished member of her community and devoted family matriarch, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in Avon, Ohio. Born on March 10, 1928, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Juana lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a deep commitment to service.

A graduate of Brooklyn South in 1945, Juana built a career centered on hard work and care, dedicating 20 years as a custodian at Masson Elementary School before retiring in 1988. Her professional life reflected her pride in contributing to the well-being of others, a value she carried throughout her life.

Juana was known for her warm, sociable nature, always eager to engage with others and make new connections. Her generous spirit extended well beyond her immediate circle. She was a longtime volunteer with Grupo de Vecindario, where she visited the sick, offering comfort and companionship. Additionally, she was an active member of Cursillo and Legion de Maria in New York for many years, groups that reflected her strong faith and community involvement.

Her passions included sewing, arts and crafts, and needlework—hobbies that not only displayed her creativity but also provided a medium through which she expressed love and care for those around her.

Juana’s loving family was the center of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bautista Navarro; her parents, Juan Pintor and Elogia Rodriguez; and several siblings, including Felicita Correa, Catalino Correa, Francisco Correa, Arsenio Correa, Damian Correa, Marcelino Correa, Carmen Correa, and Manuela Rivera. She also mourned the loss of her son, Luis Navarro.

She is survived by her children, David Navarro, Lito (Tracy) Navarro, Miriam Chase, Irma (Quinton) Navarro, and Lillian (Darryl) Allen; 7 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy. Juana is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Virginia (Sam) Kalmanwitz and Francisca (Jesus) Rodriguez.
