Jose Pacheco, born on December 12, 1937, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. He was a cherished member of his family and a beloved friend to many, leaving an enduring legacy of and resilience.
Jose's life was marked by a deep connection to his roots, celebrating his heritage as a proud Puerto Rican. He carried the warmth of his homeland with him, instilling in those around him a sense of community and valuing interpersonal connections. Throughout his life, he developed a passion for fishing, finding joy and tranquility in the serene moments spent by the water.
In addition to his love for fishing, Jose was actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. This commitment not only reflected his personal journey but also illustrated his desire to help others navigate their challenges. His strength and determination served as an inspiration to many, as he offered support and shared his experiences with compassion and understanding.
Jose is survived by his son, John Golec, as well as his sisters, Myriam Fontanez-Pacheco and Ramona Pacheco, and his brother, Benigno Pacheco Jr. Each of them will remember him not only for his wisdom and guidance but for the joy he brought into their lives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Pacheco, and his parents, Benigno Pacheco Sr. and Tomasa Vazquez. Also welcoming him back are his brothers, Jesse Vazquez and Neftali Pacheco, and his sister, Carmen Pacheco, who he missed dearly throughout his life.
Jose Pacheco will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his dedication to family, and his profound impact on those who had the privilege to know him. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift everyone he touched, as stories of his warmth and generosity will be shared for generations to come.
