Jose D. "Chilo" Torres

Jose D. "Chilo" Torres, age 70, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at his residence in Lorain following a sudden illness.

Chilo was born January 24, 1955, in Peñuelas, PR, to Jose and Iris (nee Cruz) Torres. As a young teenager, he moved to Hartford, CT, with his brother in the late 1960s. At the age of 19, Chilo married Aida "Lucy" Caraballo and moved to New Jersey. In the early 1980s, he moved back to Puerto Rico, where he owned and operated a hardware store. Chilo eventually moved to Lorain in the 1990s, working for Kitchen Works in North Ridgeville until retiring in 2012.

Chilo was a selfless, loving, mentoring, and nurturing individual who devoted his time to caring for his family members. He was the cornerstone of his family, always ready to lend a helping hand, and his presence was deeply felt by all.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys (nee Gutierrez), whom he married this year; son, Josue Torres; daughters, Aida "Denisse" Torres and Samantha Gonzalez; granddaughter, Alyha Torres; and great-grandchildren, Euriah and Emilio; daughter-in-law, Sheitza Torres; a brother, Jose A. Torres; and a sister, Ruthiris E. Torres.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, Aida I. "Lucy" Torres (nee Caraballo) in 2012; and brothers, Jose O. Torres and Jose R. Torres.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.

Visitation will also be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM at Iglesia Pentecostal Cristo Misionera, 1930 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery at 12:00 PM in Lorain, Ohio.
