John J Hayes

John J. Hayes, age 64, of Wellington, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Cleveland Clinic, Avon following a short illness.
Born July 6, 1952 in Lorain, he was raised in Elyria and attended Elyria High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
John was a carpenter by trade and was proud to have built his first home in Elyria in 1980. In 1995 he built his second home in Wellington where has resided since. John loved his antiques, tractors and trucks. He enjoyed fishing with his father and loved all kinds of animals. He was a member of St. Jude Church, Elyria.
Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Vash Hayes; his mother, Margaret Hayes of Elyria; sisters, Starlene Hayes and Jean (Randy) Smith both of Elyria; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John in 2016.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of mass at 11:00 am at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria. Rev. Frank P. Kosem, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct military honors.
