John L. Garcia

John L. Garcia, 80, of Avon Lake, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at Cleveland Clinic in Avon following a short illness.
Born November 24, 1935 in Lorain, he lived in Lorain his entire life. John graduated from Lorain High School in 1955 and served in the US Marines.
He worked as a clerk for Lorain Works US Steel for 32 years, retiring in 2001.
John attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Avon Lake, and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed traveling.
Surviving is his son, Jay P. Garcia of Lorain; daughters, Tracie Garcia of Terre Haute, Indiana and Amanda Garcia of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tessa, Christopher and Rosalea; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Rosa (nee Martinez) Garcia in 2001.
Private funeral services were held with Rev. John Retar, pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Lorain, officiating. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, handled the arrangements. To send online condolences go to www.dovinfuneralhome.com.
