Joanne M. Dembiec (nee Ignath), age 91, of Lorain, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Lorain following a brief illness.
Born on August 4, 1934, in Lorain, she spent her entire life there. Joanne graduated from Lorain High School in 1952.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and enjoyed ceramics, arts and crafts, reading, traveling, gardening, video puzzles, and word games.
Surviving are her sons, James (Karen) Dembiec of Amherst, and Edward A. Dembiec of Lorain; daughters, Karen (Mike) Kuehne of Elyria, and Kathy (Bill) McAvoy of North Olmsted; four grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Stein, Ilene Hoenig, Julie Eglinski, and Josie Stephanchick.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Edward T. Dembiec, in 2001; daughter, Denice Dembiec, in 2014; and parents, Joseph and Victoria (nee Klena) Ignath.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, located at 309 W. 7th Street, Lorain. Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
