Joan Hensley (nee Zimmerman) age 73, of Sheffield Lake, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Born June 30, 1943 in Lorain, she moved to Sheffield Lake in 1973. She worked for 10 years at Bonnie Bell in Westlake. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. She loved animals and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Hensley of Sheffield Lake and Brian Hensley of Lorain; 6 grandchildren and one great granddaughter; and a sister, Jeanne Hausrod of Avon Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Amos "Bud" Hensley in 2007; parents, Elmer and Victoria (nee Krokos) Zimmerman; and a brother, Elmer "Al" Zimmerman in 2011.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:30 pm until the time of funeral services at 8:30 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialist, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Edward J. Smith, pastor of St. Theresa Catholic Church will officiate. Graveside service will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. To send online condolences, go to www.dovinfcs.com.
