Jeannette Rose Salkowitz, born April 22, 1939, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born Jeannette Rose Jesensky, she lived a life defined by love, faith, family, and kindness. She was the cherished wife of Robert Casimir Salkowitz, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage before his passing. Together they built a loving home and created a lasting legacy through their family.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Salkowitz; her son, Robert Salkowitz II (Melissa); and her daughter, Janelle Salkowitz-Bokal (Richard), her parents Stella (née Lach) and Alex Jesensky Sr.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Rachelle Schilling (Michael) and Sheryl Salkowitz (Dennis Perez). She was a proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many beloved relatives and friends who will forever treasure her memory.
A lifelong resident of Lorain, Ohio, Jeannette Graduated from Lorain High School. As a young woman, she worked as a Window Dresser and Model for O’Neil's Department Store in Lorain, where she met the love of her life, Robert.
Throughout her life, Jeannette was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to serving others. During the late 1970s and into the 1980s, she worked as a caterer for DeLuca's Bakery and Place in the Park, where she helped create memorable experiences for countless families and community members. Later, she joined Anchor Lodge Assisted Living and Nursing Home, where she served as Activities Director. In that role, she brought joy, compassion, and companionship to residents and staff alike. She retired from Anchor Lodge after many years of devoted service.
Jeannette was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Lorain, Ohio, for more than 62 years. Her parish community was a source of strength, friendship, and spiritual fulfillment throughout her life.
Though her passing leaves a profound void, her love and influence will continue to live on through the lives she shaped and the family she so deeply cherished. She will be remembered with enduring love, gratitude, and admiration.
Visitation will be held at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055, on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Edward J. Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
