Jack Steffen, born on March 3, 1951, in Covington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence in Lorain, Ohio, on October 2, 2024, at the age of 73. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Jack leaves behind a heartfelt legacy of love and dedication.
Jack dedicated 44 years of his life to working for US Steel, a career that exemplified his strong work ethic and commitment to his profession. After his retirement in 2015, he enjoyed spending his time engaged in various hobbies, including fishing, bowling, and playing darts, which brought him joy and continued connection to family and friends.
In addition to his successful career, Jack served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His service is a testament to his patriotism and the values he held dear. Jack was proud to be a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Steel Workers Union, showcasing his lifelong commitment to serving others and standing alongside his brothers and sisters in arms and labor.
Jack's education journey began and concluded at Clearview High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and community involvement. He was known for his warmth, kindness, and sense of humor, which endeared him to everyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Steffen; children, James, Jennifer, and Kayla Steffen; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, George; and sisters, Mary Ann and Cindy. His family was always at the forefront of his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Jack also leaves to mourn his loss the memories of his late parents, George and Ann Andulics; and late grandson, Gabriel Perez. They will remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the House of Praise International in Lorain, Ohio, from 10:30 AM until the of the memorial service at 11:30 AM, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather and reflect on the life of a remarkable man who was a true source of inspiration. Military honors will follow at 12:30 P.M.
Jack’s presence will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, but his spirit and the memories he created will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
