Irene L. Long, age 92, of Lorain, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at The Woods on French Creek following a lengthy illness.
Born on February 26, 1933, in Greensboro, PA, Irene lived in Rhode Island before relocating to Lorain in the 1950s. She worked on the assembly line at Ford Motor Company and eventually retired from there.
Irene maintained her Catholic faith and was affiliated with St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, regularly received communion while residing at The Woods.
Irene had many hobbies, including gardening, yard work, coin collecting, and being an avid garage sale shopper. When relaxing, she enjoyed crocheting and watching "Dancing with the Stars" or the Hallmark Channel.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam Hall, Marsha Word, and Kim Van Sickle, all of Lorain; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Florence Jakubick of Mansfield.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (née Milan) Kutney; her son, Bruce Baird, who passed away in 2020; and her brother, Edward “Sonny” Kutney.
