Ilona Csizmadia (nee Balogh) of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at O'Neill Healthcare in Bay Village, Ohio following a brief illness.
Born June 6, 1935, to Lajos and Julianna (nee Deszo) Balogh in Mátyásdomb, Hungary she immigrated to the United States in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution, settling in Morgantown before moving to Lorain in 1960. For 35 years she worked as a housekeeper for St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain before retiring in 2000. She was a member of the former St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain.
She loved cooking, baking, gardening, taking trips and endless shopping and watching Hallmark movies. Above all she loved her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Paul L. (Bonnie) of Lorain, Joseph M. (Cynthia) of Elyria and Steven A. of Columbus; daughter, Julia M. Csizmadia of Lorain; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Paul Csizmadia in 1987; both of her parents as well as her brothers, Frank Balogh and Joe Balogh along with eight other siblings.
