Helene M. Roode (nee Payne), 85, of Bedford, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Mill Manor Nursing Home, Vermilion, following a short illness.
Born Oct. 14, 1919 in East Orange, NJ, lived in Massachusetts and New York before moving to Warrensville Heights, Ohio. She settled in Bedford, Ohio in 1969 and has lived there since.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed photography and traveling.
She was a former member of St. Pius the X, in Cleveland and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for over 16 years.
Surviving is her daughter; Joan Erb of Medina, sons; Peter A. Roode of Tennessee, and Robert W. Roode of Herbster, Wisconsin, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, brothers; George A. Payne Jr. of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and Richard Payne of Fairport, New York.
She was preceded in death by her husband; William Allan Theodore Roode in 1994, a sister; Jean Nickerson in 1997, a brother; Bob Payne in 2001, parents, George Arthur Payne and Lillian (nee Brighton) Payne.
There will be no funeral services. The arrangements were handled by the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain.
