Gloria J. Ford (nee VanNest), 74, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born September 25, 1942 in Uniontown, Ohio, to the late Harry and Leota (nee Gilhan) VanNest. She was a daughter of a coal miner, raised in Uniontown and graduating from Flushing High School. She came to Lorain in 1962 where she has lived since.
She retired from Somers Insurance Agency where she worked as a receptionist.
Gloria truly loved her family and friends and spending time with all of them. She loved shopping and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, gambling and dancing.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 55 years, Donald R. Ford; a daughter, Debbie (Tom) Cotterill of Sheffield Twp.; daughter in law, Julie Ford of Lorain; grandchildren, Alex Ford, Zach Ford, Hannah Ford, Jocelyn Cotterill, Thomas "TJ" Cotterill and Marcella "Ella" Cotterill; and a sister, Darlene Demarchi; and many nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard A. Ford in 2012; brothers, Bob VanNest and Tom VanNest; and a sister, Shirley Carpenter.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am. Rev. Chris Robinson, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
