Gertrude Hobbs (nee Blackburn), age 84, of Grafton, died on Thursday, December 24, 2004, at her residence, after a lengthy illness.
Gertrude was born on May 29, 1920 in Pikeville, Kentucky, she then came to Lorain in 1946 from Portsmouth, Ohio, and has lived the rest of her life in the Lorain County area.
She belonged to Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church, Lorain. Gertrude enjoyed crocheting, reading the bible, and cooking.
She is survived by her sons; Glen, Clifton, and Carl all of Lorain, her daughters; Sylvia Cavanaugh, of Grafton, Florence Johnson and Kathy Slone, both of Liberty, Kentucky, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Howard of Pikeville, Kentucky.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ergel Rose, sons; Tildren, who died in infancy, and Clayton in 2002, 1 great-grandchild, Tyler Canter, sisters; Alice Helton and Quelly Blackburn, and 2 brothers; Clyde Blackburn and Elbert Blackburn.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 from 4-9 P.M., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be held at 6:00 P.M., Rev. Mike Slone will be officiating. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, Rev.
