Gerardo Velez, 48, of Lorain, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following lengthy illness.
Born September 22, 1968 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in 1987. He had a passion for helping others.
Surviving is his parents, Margarita Davila and Fidel Velez both of Ponce, PR; children, Dorcas Velez and Josiah Velez both of Lorain; brothers, Elias, Ferdinand, Wilson, Wigberto and Fidel; and sisters, Maribel, Dainalee and Denise.
He was preceded in death by his son, Moises.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 8:30 am until the time of mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
