Franziska Sirse (née Adlassnig), passed away peacefully at her residence on October 26, 2026, in Elyria, Ohio where she resided the past 61 years. She was born on January 26, 1927, in Austria and lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, dedication to her work, and faith that remained an important part of her life.
Franziska worked as a coil winder for Lorain Products for 21 years, retiring in 1990. She also served as head baker at St. Joseph Hospital, a role that reflected both her skill and her care for others. Her talents extended beyond her work, and she was known for enjoying gardening, baking, cooking, and playing cards. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria, where her faith found a home in the life of the parish. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Sonja (Jim) Love, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Erika Gsteu; her niece who helped with Franziska’s care, Margaret (Basil) Rozmarynowycz and many other nieces and nephews and her “second daughter,” Mary Margaret Ochenas. Their lives, and the lives of the generations that followed, were enriched by Franziska’s love, steady presence, and the warmth she brought to family gatherings and everyday moments alike.
Franziska was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sirse Sr.; her son, Frank Sirse Jr.; her parents Simon and Juliana (nee Strauss) Adlassnig; her brother, Simon Adlassnig; and her sisters, Ursula Krenos, Michaela Koschutnik, Julia Prax, and Maria Kodal. She is remembered with love by all who shared in the family circle built by Simon Adlassnig and Juliana Strauss and carried forward through their children.
