The iconic Spanish radio show host and DJ, El Pacha, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the age of 75, leaving a void in our hearts and in the world of Latino music.
Felipe Madera-Rivera was born on July 5, 1950, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and moved to Lorain in his youth.
Pacha’s radio career was a testament to his passion and dedication, spanning over 30 years. He spent over 20 years at WOBL and WDLW, where he hosted the beloved Sabor Latino show on Sundays, leaving an indelible mark on the airwaves.
He was a religious man at heart and had a passion for the Lord. He enjoyed on-air interviews with celebrities, playing dominoes with his friends, and DJ’ing events.
Pacha was not only a radio icon, but also a proud patriot who served his country for over eight years in the US Army. His service was recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Army Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Marksmanship Rifle Badge.
Surviving is his son, Michael Medera Robles of Lorain; daughter, Michelle Medera of Puerto Rico; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Harvey Velasquez, Harold Velasquez, Karl Velasquez, Florantionio Jr., Alex Madera; sisters, Jacqueline Velasquez, Caroline Velasquez, Angie Torres, Madeline Madera, Maritza Madera, Marisol Madera, and Dalia Madera.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Milagros (nee Rivera) Madera; a brother, Guacho Madera; and sisters, Edna “Eddie” Velasquez and Gricell Torres.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.
