Eugene ChevchekIt is with great sadness that the family of Eugene Chevchek announces his passing due to complications from Alzheimer's early Tuesday morning July 18, 2017 at the age of 77 years. Gene passed surrounded by his remaining living family, his two sons, who will forever lovingly remember their father as a source of inspiration, generosity and positivity.
Gene lived most of his life in Lorain and later resided in Broadview Heights, Ohio. Gene attended elementary school at St. Stanislaus Church, Lorain and graduated from St. Mary's High School. He was a long-time member of St Mary's Parish, Lorain and later an active parishioner at the Church of the Assumption in Broadview Heights. Gene was member of the Knights of Columbus a role he respected, honored and cherished.
Gene obtained his associates degree from LCCC had a successful career as a IT Executive in the banking industry at both Lorain National Bank and Lorain County Bank/Premier Bank & Trust in addition to part time teaching at LCCC.
Gene is survived by his two sons, Mark Chevchek who resides in Chicago and Brian Chevchek who resides in New York City. He was preceded in death by his wife Dianna in 2016; parents, Andrew and Helen (nee Rzaca) Szewczyk; and brother Gerald "Jerry" Szewczyk in 2000.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends will also be received on Friday from 10:30 am until the time of mass at Church of the Assumption, 9183 Broadview Road, Broadview Heights, OH 44147. Rev. Justin Dyrwal, O.S.B., pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

I met him three years ago for the first time. Sadly that was the last time. However during that visit 3 years ago I found him to be very kind man who obviously loved his sons very much as they did him.
