Esmeralda Figueroa Gonzalez

Esmeralda Figueroa Gonzalez, age 76, of Lorain, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at her home while under the care of Western Reserve Hospice.

Born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, on July 12, 1949, she graduated from Alfonso Casta Martinez High School and attended college for 2 years. She moved to Lorain in 1989.

Esmeralda was a dedicated member of the First Spanish Baptist Church in Lorain.

She enjoyed sitting in front of her magnolia tree, watching television, cooking, shopping, coloring, and especially attending church.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Sixto Claussell; children, Omar Claussell, Limarie Claussell, and Abdiel Claussell; 9 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Javier; and sisters, Brunilda, Ceferina, Elizabeth, Inocencia, Sandra, Luz Delia, Mayra, and Eva Gloria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lino Figueroa and Gumercinda Gonzalez; brothers, Daniel, Pedro, and Lino Jr.; and sisters, Delia, Margarita, and Milca.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at First Spanish Baptist Church, 2306 E. 30th Street, Lorain, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the church. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
